About the Organization

American Assistance for Cambodia is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving opportunities for the youth and rural poor in Cambodia. They were founded in 1993 by American journalist Bernie Krisher, also founder of The Cambodian Daily. Since then they have done many projects benefiting Cambodia. In 1999 AAfC set up their Rural Schools Program, which is now the largest program of their organization.

American Assistance for Cambodia is registered in the United States as a 501(c)3 tax-deductible nonprofit organization. They direct over 95% of their funds directly toward their programs, using less then 5% for administrative purposes. Since the start of their Rural School Program they have helped to build over four hundred schools, helping hundreds of children to get the education they deserve.
